What We Do

The GED Coach is a nonprofit 501c(3) Texas-based company providing mentoring programs for adult youth in the Greater Houston area. We partner with existing programs at local homeless shelters and halfway houses. We work to foster a commitment to the young people that promotes mentoring friendships, stronger interpersonal skills development, and helps to reassert a sense of hope in their future. Only through personal relationships can a sense of individual responsibility for "self- management" be reestablished that will give the young adult the desire and commitment to follow through on path to adulthood with a sense of pride and accomplishment.

GED Coach's goal is to help young adults choose a vocational path that fits their interests and personality. The "Strong Interest Inventory", developed to help veterans re-enter civilian life with jobs appropriate to their interests and personality traits, is our main tool for expanding the young person's vision of what they might be happy doing, such that if they like the work, they will succeed and perform well and be happy and move towards becoming financially independent. We administer this assessment, which is completed at any online computer 24/7 at the client's convenience. This assessment and its interpretation is available to qualified clients at homeless shelters at no cost whatsoever to the shelter. We cover 100% of the costs. We will also help them to finish high school or to pass the GED test so they can get a better job and further their education.
